Johnny Love is the grandson of percussionist, singer and pianist Juan Ramón ‘Mon’ Santiago Rey – who motivated his cousin Raphy Leavitt (later of La Selecta) to begin his carrer in music as part of the “Combo Los Rey” – making music a big part of Johnny’s life. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to a Puerto Rican father and Dominican mother, he fell in love with music as a young boy in church. Johnny has most recently had the honor of working with Maffio, multiple Grammy Award winner, in his most recent production titled “Si Tu No Estas,” bringing salsa and tropical music back.
Johnny Love is married to Colombian actress and writer Lina de la Pava. It is “Si Tu No Estas” that marks his return to the stage as a solo artist and composer.
