BEN ACORS

Ben has been writing and recording music since he was 13 years old. He was born in 1986 and adopted by his parents as a newborn. He grew up in Virginia Beach, VA but relocated in March of 2007 to the Ohio Valley due to family reasons. God has blessed him with an extraordinary talent for singing and playing guitar that Ben has developed over the years. Aside from his music and talent, Ben took his education seriously and graduated from Ashford University in 2017 with a Masters Degree in Psychology. He says his biggest motivators for graduating college are his wife and daughter, who support him fully. Musically, he discovered the guitar at age 13 and is self-taught. When recording and in studio, he does both vocals and guitar. He actively serves as one of the lead singers and guitarist at NewLife church in Weirton, WV. Some of Ben’s notable musical accomplishments include the release of his first album, called Take My Life.

He is a very diverse performing artist, who has performed and written many songs in different genres.

He is also signed with successful independent label LBMRecords. In addition to being signed with LBMRecords, some of Ben’s songs have been featured on K-Love, GODSpeaks Radio, 3-R Righteous Rock Radio, The Beat radio station, and multiple music magazine interviews. He has also made local News with WTOV News Channel 9 at one of his booked events. There will be many more new releases from Ben to watch out for in the near future, so continue to stay tuned so you don’t miss out on what’s to come!

Interview by Tim Brown

When and why did you start playing?
I’ve been playing music since I was 13. Music has always been my passion. It’s a part of me, it’s what I have always enjoyed more than anything else.

Do you perform in public? Describe those occasions? Concerts, radio, TV
Yes. I have been booked by several different venues already this summer. My music is regularly rotated on various radio stations as well. When on stage I carry the crowd by being entertaining and giving the audience exactly what they paid to hear for. God and my fans are the reason I do what I do.

Why did you choose to play this kind of music?
A: Because my talent comes from God and it’s my way of giving it back and thanking Him for my talent. I want to bring people into the presence of God and never forget where my talent comes from.

Let’s Talk about your music and your last work…
A: So my music is in the Christian Rock and Worship genre. My music is influenced by bands and artists like Mercy Me, Casting Crowns, Phil Wickham, Newsboys, and Elevation Worship. My latest work is my 1st album, which was released March 1st 2019 by LBMRecords. It’s called “Take my life” and it’s found on iTunes, Spotify, iHeart Radio, and Pandora.

What are the plans for the future
My label and I are working on my 2nd album and I have multiple upcoming shows that I was booked for this summer that I’ll be performing at. More interviews and even some involvement with K-Love is in the near future.

How has your music evolved since you first began playing music?
I’ve been recording and playing music for 15 years. The first 14 of those years were as an unsigned artist just doing it for fun as a hobby. In the beginning I remember recording songs on my moms old HP Pavilion desktop PC running Windows 2000 using ACID PRO 4.0 as the DAW back in the early 2000s haha. Since then my music has evolved into what it is today. It’s my career move now, it isn’t just a hobby or something to do for fun anymore. I am now signed by label LBMRecords and we have released my first album called “Take My Life.”

Could you please describe the music-making process?
My label does all of my recording in-studio and they use Logic Pro X. First we lay down our basic skeletal framework of instrumentals and vocals. Then we add drums and bass, and then everything gets mix and mastered at the end. It’s a very time consuming process but it’s very fun and rewarding.
